Budget holidays in Spain

Almost all, at least once in their life, would like to visit Spain. However, some think they can’t afford it. Today we will tell you about the three cheapest cities in Spain, where you can still enjoy your dream vacation.

On the coast of the Balearic Sea, you can find resorts where your vacation will be less costly without taking away from the experience. We have found three locations; Pineda de Mar, Tossa de Mar, and Calella. All are located in the resort town of Costa Brava not very well known by international tourists but very well located by the mediteranean coast close proximity to Barcelona. The hotels here are small but comfortable. Because of this the cost of living is very budgetary.

As for the cuisine in the region, the food is very tasty, and the portions are large, take that as a warning and do not rush to order too many different dishes right away. Most dishes are hearty and almost all consist of either seafood and meat. So how much does it cost to eat here? Firstly you should opt for eating a menu del dia, the traditional Spanish lunch menu often served as three courses. For a Menu del dia in the Costa Brava region expect to pay 10€ per person, with that you often also get a nice local glass of wine. If you opt for eating like a tourist and want a nice dinner instead then expect to pay around 18-22€ per person.

Before going into more detail about them firstly let’s talk about what we mean when we say cheap or economical and how we came about these recommendations. After all, the price of a vacation depends on a number of factors, so it is difficult to determine an exact figure. With that said we would also not want to recommend anything that won’t make for a perfect vacation. So to make these recommendations we have been looking at;

-resort location (we need a place that is warm and have beautiful beaches by the sea)

-vacation season (peak holiday, prices are much higher)

-the number of stars at the hotel

-supply system

-number of days spent

-excursions available and cost thereof

-the way you travel.

There are not many hotels in Calella, but the demand for them is quite large due to the excellent infrastructure of the city and its proximity to Barcelona. Nevertheless, by price parameters, Calella is still on the list of inexpensive resorts.

Calella is only 45 kilometers from Barcelona. The beach is 3 km long, and in addition to the main beach there are also small bays where you can not only swim, but also go diving. The only thing you need to be careful on vacation with the children is because the depth begins almost immediately.

The famous Pineda de Mar beach is almost 3 km long, reaching a width of 40 m. Despite it’s length, the beach is well equipped – rental of sun loungers and umbrellas, small boats and catamarans, boating. People with disabilities are well accommodated here.

Rescuers are on duty around the clock on the beach, and there are first aid posts conveniently placed along the beach. The combination of conditions for vacationers allows Pineda de Mar beach to win the Blue Flag award every year – a sign that UNESCO awards the best European beaches.

If you are looking for calm beaches and a quiet town – Tossa Del Mar will suit you.

Tossa del Mar is located 90 kilometers north of Barcelona, it is a small cozy town. There are no night clubs, but everyone can appreciate the clean beaches and quality of the service in the hotels here.
