Philip VI was born on January 30, 1968 in Madrid. Felipe Juan Pablo Alfonso de Todos los Santos de Bourbon and Grecia is the third child in the royal family, but the only son. After the coronation of his father, Juan Carlos, he became the heir to the throne. His father – Juan Carlos – ruled as king 1975-2014. His mother is the Greek princess Sofia, Queen of Spain.
The future king received secondary education at a prestigious school in Madrid. Then he studied at Lakefield College in Toronto (Canada) for a year. In 1985-1988 studied at the Military Academy in Zaragoza, then Officer Naval School in Marina, and later the Air Force Academy in San Javier. He also completed a marine training course. Philip VI received the rank of lieutenant of the ground forces and the air force, and junior lieutenant of the navy. By the time he entered the throne, he held the rank of lieutenant colonel of the ground forces and the air force and captain of the second rank of the navy. Besides all of this he also has a helicopter pilot qualification.

The future king graduated from the law department of the Autonomous University of Madrid where he received a master’s degree in international relations at the Edmund Walsh School of Diplomatic Service at Georgetown University in Washington (USA). So we think it is fair to say that he is a bit of an over performer.
November 22, 1975 Philip became heir to the throne. In January 1977, he received the titles of Prince of Asturias, Prince of Girona and Prince of Viana.
On June 2, 2014, King of Spain Juan Carlos I abdicated in favor of Felipe.
The coronation took place on June 19, 2014. Prince Felipe, who took the name Philip VI, became the 11th king of Spain from the Bourbon dynasty and the youngest monarch in Europe. He was given the red belt – a symbol of the commander-in-chief of the country’s armed forces. Also the prince received the rank of captain-general of the ground forces, navy and air force.

In July 2014, Philip VI forbade members of the royal family to accept expensive gifts (cars, valuables, etc.) and cash.Also called for the abandonment of airline tickets at state expense and soft loans that banks could provide them. In 2015, he authorized external auditors to audit the royal family accounts.
Philip VI became the first Spanish king to officially invite representatives of the LGBT community to the palace. Letizia is the first Spanish queen born in Spain. But before acquiring all these titles, she was a very successful and sought-after journalist. Then Letitia switched to television, and in 2000 even received the prestigious Larra Award.
At one of the receptions for journalists at the end of 2002, Letizia met Philip, Prince of Asturias. Nothing is known about how their relationship developed over the next year. The couples kept the romance in strict confidence, and it became known only after the announcement of the engagement.
On May 22, 2004, in the Cathedral of Santa Maria la Real de la Almudena, Madrid, been wedding of King Philipp and Queen Letizia. The bride went to the altar in a dress specially created for her and a platinum tiara with diamonds, presented to her by her mother-in-law, Queen Sofia.
In October 2005, the couple had a daughter, Leonor, and in April 2007, Sofia.The eldest daughter of Philip and Letizia – Princess of Asturias Leonor was born on October 31, 2005. On her 13th birthday, she delivered her first official speech at the Cervantes Institute in Madrid. Otherwise, the performance of royal duties on her part is limited to periodic foreign trips with parents and exits during special events.
